Industrial Strength London
strength and conditioning for the toughest of jobs
Jonathan Lewis is a Chartered Physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach, co-owner of Balance Performance Physiotherapy and Industrial StrengthLondon in the United Kingdom. Irrespective of an individuals goals Jonathan's approach to strength and conditioning is fundamentally the same, maximise athletic potential.
"Jonathan treats all his clients as athletes and performers.
The need to gain quality movement in order to reach optimal performance is shared by all: those rehabilitating following injury; people working for a long, healthy, strong and satisfying life; an athlete wanting improved sports results; a soldier needing fitness to fight; or men and women who are medically unwell.
The tools used are many, varied and based on what's available and accessible. Bodyweight is available to all and the first port of call for work on mobility, movement quality, strength, flow, control and energy efficiency/endurance. For added resistance the kettlebell is the most effective and versatile for athletic results.
Jonathan has worked in the field of physical performance for over 20 years. Starting out as a Royal Marine Commando before moving into strength, conditioning and rehabilitation as a health and fitness professional, Jonathan's expertise continues to evolve drawing all his personal, sporting and professional experiences together. IKFF Level I CKT
I was rehabbing a broken leg and physical therapy offered minimal help. I found that with a combination of mobility drills, bodyweight exercises and kettlebells, I was able to develop better movement patterns all the while gaining strength resulting in the best shape I had been in 15 years.
I now aim to provide the same tools and techniques to anyone who wants to take charge of their own fitness. I have been fortunate enough to work with some excellent teachers and coaches over the last few years. I work to distill that experience for anyone who wants to regain mobility, strength and resilience. Whatever the level, background or experience, the way we train has a profound effect on people’s wellbeing.
Our blog - www.simplestrength.com regularly features information on workshops and we look to provide a variety of programs over the year.
In 2009 we will introduce Safe&Strong in conjunction with Scotlands Top Krav Maga Instructor, Marcus Houston. Safe&Strong focuses on simple effective training, confidence building and practical self defence techniques designed to provide a foundation for physical and personal development.

Vince has been involved in martial arts since 1980, starting with Shaolin Nam Pai Chuan at the famed Chin Woo school of Malaysia, then after moving to the UK, he continued his martial arts training in Shotokan karate. During this time he also explored Shorinji Kempo, and other schools of karate, including Shito-Ryu, Goju-Kai and Ishin-Ryu. During the summer breaks, he learned a little aikido but found that he missed competition which he pursued and earned a place in Karate Association of Hawaii’s team. Representing K.A.H., he competed on the A.A.U. West Coast circuit as well as regional and state level competitions earning the podium on several occassions.
Vince also worked pro-bono for the Boys and Girls Club of America in Oakland, an outreach program for underprivileged kids in California. In addition to his educational responsibilities he founded an accredited karate program the University of San Francisco Karate Club in 1991 when he was an undergraduate there. His interest in physical education was peaked when he returned to Malaysia only to find his martial arts students were unable to keep up with the physical demands so he started to teach a separate physical conditioning program which has since been adopted and spread to East Malaysia and as far as Osaka, Japan.
